Assalamu alaikum 🙂 (May God’s peace and blessings be upon you)
It’s been quite a while since I’ve posted on here – A lot has been going on in the past few months but Alhumdulillah (All praise and thanks be to God) things have finally settled down and I’m back in the swing of things 🙂
I’m not usually an early riser but something compelled me to wake up early today (and by early I mean 6:00 am – that’s early for me! lol) – perhaps it was the morning sun streaming through the sheers in my bedroom. I usually put on my sleep mask to get a few more hours of sleep before I have to wake up for work. However today, something compelled me to wake up and get the day started. I hopped out of bed and went downstairs to make my favourite breakfast – 2 slices of cinnamon raisin bread, scrambled eggs with cream cheese (yes, I eat my scrambled eggs with cream cheese lol) and of course, a nice hot cup of tea 🙂
After having breakfast, I looked outside into my backyard and just stopped for a moment to take in the beautiful, calm stillness of the morning. The morning sun gleamed a beautiful warm radiance full of freshness and hope. The birds were chirping and a cute brown rabbit was hopping along my backyard nibbling on the grass. As I looked up towards the sky, I took in the beautiful sight of a large bird flying high in the sky, soaring freely above the world below.
Although this may not mean much to some people, to me, this calm beautiful morning scene is priceless. In the quiet moments of the morning when most people are soundly sleeping in their beds, there is something incredibly special about waking up before the hustle and bustle of the day and just being with your thoughts and enjoying the simple things in life.
Reflecting is best done when you have the silence to listen to your own thoughts. But that can be hard to do during a busy day. However, in the few hours before starting the day, looking at God’s creation causes me to think about my Creator and how much He takes care of me. Sometimes I become so overcome with emotion just thinking about how out of all the people in the world, God listens to *me*? Little ol’ me? SubhanAllah! (Glory be to God)
For me, waking up early is a way to recharge my batteries (mentally, spiritually and emotionally) – to take a break from the fast-paced cycle of life and reconnect with myself and most importantly, reconnect with my Creator.
I could go on about my thoughts on life, but it’s almost time to get ready for work so till next time…
Wishing you all a beautiful peace-filled day,
P.S. Can you spot the little visitor in my backyard? 🙂
